A new Arbitral Award pronounced on the 5th May 2012 by this Arbitration Centre’s Arbitral Tribunal regarding trade names and corporate names is now available for consultation. The dispute was between a private party and the Institute of Registration and Notary Affairs (IRN).

A new Arbitral Award pronounced on the 23rd January 2012 by this Arbitration Center’s Arbitral Tribunal regarding a domain name, is now available for consultation. The dispute was between a private party and the FCCN - National Fundation for Scientific Computing.

The Foundation for National Scientific Computing has announced the liberalization of .PT domains and the entry into force of the new regulation on the 1st of March, having stipulated a sunrise period to allow the holders of previously constituded rights to register their domains before the possibility is open to everyone.

Accomplishing three years of existence today, ARBITRARE has completed 70 proceedings, 64 of which have already were resolved.

It has been published today in the Official Journal, Law no. 63/2011 of 14th December, which approves the Law on Voluntary Arbitration. 

This diploma aims to establish a  legal regime for voluntary arbitration that is similar to the international arbitration standards, being based on the Model-Law of the United Nations Commission on International Commerce Law (UNCITRAL).

Law no. 62/2011 of 12th December was published yesterday in the Official Journal, creating a system for disputes emerging from industrial property rights, between reference medicines and generic medicines. These litigations, including injunctions, irrespective of whether they involve process patents, use or product  patents or supplementary protection certificates, are subject to necessary arbitration, institutionalized or not.

A new Arbitral Award pronounced on the 15th July 2011 by this Arbitration Center’s Arbitral Tribunal regarding domain Names is now available for consultation. The dispute was between a private party and the FCCN - National Fundation for Scientific Computing.

ARBITRARE has amended its Arbitration Regulation and its Procedural Costs Regulation. The new versions have entered into force on the 1st of July 2011. The primary aim for these amendments was mainly to accelerate the arbitration procedures, therefore some important changes were implemented.

“Tertúlias de PI” (or Informal Talks about Industrial Property) is a new event organized by INPI, created to allow reflection and debate on the subject of Intellectual Property. It is designed to be an open forum for guests to present opinions and ideas and discuss them with the participants.
