Today, the 26th April, we celebrate World Intellectual Property Day (IP), this year centred on the subject "Innovate for a Green Future" as defined by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

This year, innovation and IP rights, always inseparably linked, are at the centre of the efforts to create a "green future". Everyone is aware of the harmful effects climate change and pollution have on our planet and as such it is our duty to build up a greener world to our future generations, rooted in a sustainable economy with low carbon contents.

The choices we make today will decisively shape our tomorrow and a balanced and robust IP system will support the emergence of a green economy that works with and not against the life on earth.

As Einstein once noted, we cannot keep doing the same thing over, and over again and expect different results. If we want different results, we need to be innovative in our approaches, our thinking, and our business models.
